Introducing: GuideMe by PSD2HTML
GuideMe is a WordPress plugin developed by our very own Alex Frolov, who is a CMS team leader at PSD2HTML. Here is a little bit of history behind the creation of this solution.
With every project, we get better understanding of how our clients view the process of managing their websites. There are clients who use WordPress for the first time and don’t know much about its architecture or how to edit text on a regular page. At the same time, there are clients that have a vast experience with WordPress websites and know exactly what they need.
In both cases, however, clients still need some clarification from the development team on “how to use it”. Those requests inspired us to create GuideMe. This plugin (currently applicable only for WordPress) allows developers to leave hints on front-end for website admins. Hints can include very helpful tips, for example: “click here and edit this box”, “to manage these settings go to Settings->Appearance” and so on.
Let’s take a closer look at the core features of the plugin. Here is what you can do:
- leave hints on any page you need. It can be posts, pages, tags, categories, and also custom post types and taxonomies
- leave hints using easy and intuitive drag-and-drop functionality
- include links, lists, use bold and italic fonts. It helps to create a more structured hint and create link to admin dashboard pages
- export pins to another website through XML file, for example a standard WordPress importer.
Please note that these hints will only be visible for website admins, other users that are not logged into wp-admin will not be able to see the hints. In future updates, we’re planning on giving the admin permissions to assign a role/user who will be able to see the hints as well.
Thanks for reading and stay tuned for our updates!
